APTA New York State Education Department's State Board for Physical Therapy

Physical Therapists

20 hours of continuing education are required for every 2 year compliance period. A compliance period begins on September 1st of even-numbered years and ends on August 31st of the following even-numbered year.

Physical Therapist Assistants

10 hours of continuing education are required for every 2 year compliance period. A compliance period begins on September 1st of even-numbered years and ends on August 31st of the following even-numbered year.

The board does not pre-approve any activities for continuing competence credit. A licensee can determine the acceptability of a course or activity based on the descriptions contained in Article 4 in the board’s administrative rules, A.A.C.
