The Office of Substance Use and Mental Health CE Information

The Office of Substance Use and Mental Health (OSUMH) is Utah’s public mental health and substance use authority. This office consults and coordinates with federal, state, and local partners regarding programs and services. The office also contracts for substance use and mental health programs funded with state and federal funds.

A Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) is an individual who uses their lived experience in recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorder, in addition to skills learned in a formal training, to deliver services promoting recovery and resiliency.

A Family Peer Support Specialist (FPSS) is a primary caregiver who has “lived experience” of being actively involved in raising a child who experiences emotional, behavioral, mental health and/or substance use challenges. Family Peer Support Specialist has experience navigating child-serving systems and has received specialized training to empower other families who are raising children with similar experiences.
