In this guide, we: Describe why improving suicide care is urgently needed, identify gaps in health care that contribute to suicide deaths, summarize the evidence-based solutions that should be adopted and provide information on resources that are available to make care safer and better.

This course is based on the article, Recommended Standard Care for People with Suicide Risk – Making Health Care Suicide Safe created by National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention in 2016.

Note: On July 16, 2022, the U.S. transitioned the 10-digit National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to 988. A link to more information and resources on 988 can be found in the materials section of this page.
